I work at a “fast food”-ish restaurant as a general manager. After buying a house 45 minutes away I quit due to the distance driving every day.
Thing is unlike most people here I don't hate my job or boss, so when the owners asked me to stay until they trained a new GM, I said I would stay until I got a new job or until they didn't need me, whichever came first, but if I received an offer I wouldn't be giving a further 2 weeks notice.
I obviously no longer give a shit, so I come in, open the doors, and sports gamble/watch Hulu on the company computer for my entire shift. I've even been bringing my dab pen. I've been entering random numbers for inventory (which the owners spend hours correcting the day after), ive msised 2 produce orders that they had to go to walmart and buy the necessities, hell I even told a customer to get the fuck out of my store and gave them corporates number and my name after they demanded it.
I'm still employed. I now have the best job in the world. I come in every day, get high, and do nothing/whatever i want. I actually learned how to tre flip my skateboard in the parking lot after spending 8+ hours getting paid to learn it. For 315 dollars a day i could do this forever. My Staff doesn't even care anymore since they've left me as the boss 2 MONTHS after quitting. Somehow sales are still comping, (weird because they always insisted sales were related to our work effort not market trends)but I'm not doing ANY paperwork or shit I'm supposed to do, like literally anybody can do what I'm currently doing (unlocking the doors)
Yet they haven't even BEGUN the process of training someone new. They NEVER contact me about issues or complaints anymore. It's honestly amazing. No idea why they would let their business suffer like this but hey, this is who puts the food in your car, just a heads up. What spurred this post is the owners have now gone on a 2 week long vacation. Which means their is nobody to fix my inevitable fuck ups. They LITERALLY left someone who clearly doesn't even work in CHARGE of an entire store that generates 1,200,000 yearly. We will CERTAINLY run out of produce and supplies, I don't care, but I wrongly assumed somebody cared. Kinda crazy, just wanted to share a happy 'i quit' story
