Sounds great at first, until you think about it. Workers who fear losing their job or ones that are competing for promotions are not going to use this. There will no longer be PTO credit to give out when workers quit. Workers will not feel they have to use their accumulating PTO because there won't be any at risk of losing any.This is many wins for the company.
I feel like its a trap. They call us family and say they trust us to make decisions on how much time off to take. I'd like to request the next ten years off, for my mental health, family. I'm sure they will be fine with that…
There should be laws to stop this, but up until this evil corporate idea came about, the idea of giving employees unlimited vacation sounds crazy. But if you put some thought into it, this puts power back into the companies hands. Nobody is going to take more vacation time due to this, and no way will management allow long periods of time off more than past PTO rules.
The one thing I really hate is the use of “family” terms for employees. My mom tried to kill me when I was a baby. My life was abusive hell with my family. I'd get another job but for my circumstances this is one of the better ones in my field. It's not like the next one will be better.
