No consequence for delaying my paycheck for 2 weeks

I live paycheck to paycheck, and rely on being paid on time so that I can afford necessities – food, rent, etc. I recently started a government job where I am supposed to get paid every 2 weeks. Due to an error on the part of the payroll department, my chosen name was put on my first check instead of my legal name. (I am transgender, but I made very clear to my managers and the HR department that my chosen name was different from my legal name. I also filled out all financial paperwork with my legal name.) I let them know about the issue the moment I received the check. They then said I would have to wait a week to be paid — when I needed to pay rent two days later. I ended up having to borrow money from my boyfriend, it was very stressful and…

Lack of Interpersonal Skills in Leadership and Management will Lead to Prolonged High Inflation and Higher Wages

Inflation Theory of Prolonged Abnormally High Inflation (as evident by Anecdotal Qualitative Analysis with some Quantitative data sprinkled in) Anecdotal evidence here. I worked in multiple different industries, education, prison guard, mailman, UPS, Amazon, fast food, limousine taxi, regular security guard AND one thing they all have in common, there’s not enough workers. Being short staffed is miserable and the work is very hard. My dads brother, my uncle, is a mechanic, for over thirty years, and he tells me the new grads of automotive mechanic schools lack major skills and he has to train them and there’s a major shortage of mechanics. He tells me this all the time. Texas and Florida are banning water breaks, and banning other workers rights protections that once existed, no longer exists. Union membership is currently at an all time low, according to the BLS. At the end of the day we (workers)…

If I’m being interviewed by managers for a supervisor role in the job I’ve been at for 3 years and one of the questions is to ask me if I have any questions what do I say?

I messed up my interview royally and looking for advice on what kind of answer they’re actually looking for.

Found self-employment as an unpaid philosopher

I’ve found my dream job being my own boss as a philosopher. My job title is Quality of life visionary / Well-being researcher. My goal is to shape my personal brand and identity into something true to me while also helping others relate to basic human struggles. I want to advocate for quality of life by researching the philosophy of well-being. That involves experiencing the hustle of minimum wage labour, food stamps and collection agencies. Only when I see the other side of the coin by immersing myself in the welfare cycle can I truly speak for the people. I’m fighting for four hour work days and four day work weeks. Using the Socratic method I’ve come to understand Canadians find life too expensive and many people are under immense stress and financial pressure. With automation and AI we can produce the same or more output or value with less…

Dad likes to say how easy it is to save up for a house on a single income, but here is the cost of living when he was 18

Last post I posted like this, people got upset I posted prices from my dads birth year, saying it was unfair to use that cost of living… so here are the prices when he was actually moved out.

Will this save my job?

I am on probation and have only 3 weeks (maybe) left. My manager pulled me in for a extra probation meeting last week and advised that I have “regressed”. My feedback outlined in another post was around me laughing too much and too loudly at work, being too social with team members in-between jobs. Now our team posted their most effective month, myself posting the best month out of the team. I have made a spreadsheet outlining my work volume, how I have had huge positive outcomes and created solid relationships with clients. I have added that I am also the most efficient in the team (and hidden their details to avoid them being caught in any cross fire as this isn't there “fight”) Do you think this would be enough at my final probation meeting or am I fighting the inevitable?

Labor Law in Texas?

Not really sure what I should do or advise my father to do. He is elderly and works a low skilled restaurant job in Texas. He hurt his shoulder and was on workers comp earning 60% of his salary for three months. Now doctor cleared him to go back to the workplace but said he can’t perform the same type of tasks he was doing before. He told his employer he is ready to work and showed him the doctors orders. Now they aren’t putting him on the schedule and aren’t returning his calls even though they definitely have jobs he can do and they pay the same. What’s to be done? Apologies if this is the wrong sub.

How do I go back to taking the blue pill?

I have hated work for years but I was content on having money and living a stable life. I'm a teacher and I'm reminded yearly how much I fucking hate my job. Well, they found a new way to make me hate my job. A few weeks ago, I was applying for another job within the school and because of circumstances outside of my control I was told I wasn't going to be considered for the job. That job would've given me a lot of freedom and better work life balance. Now I have to go back to the same shit work I've been doing for years. I know some people will say the solution would be to just quit the school. I've tried for years and I'm currently trying now. It's so fucking depressing to not even be considered on the outside of the school. I've tried applying to…

The time I was written up Over a meme I retweeted on Twitter

So when I was 19 I had a job I hated. Like most 19 year olds. My manager was like a 60 year old Regina George. She was just mean and did underhanded mean things to all the girls just for her own amusement. She would call you ugly, stupid, she would berate you in front of customers , ect. Basically anything a bad manager did, she did it. I saw a funny meme on Twitter, I remember the meme vividly. It was a golden retriever puppy sitting in the driver seat of a car with its head on the wheel and had text that say “when you show up to work and sit in the driveway for 5 minutes Cus you don’t wanna go in” Anyway. I retweeted it and thought nothing if it cus it was a harmless funny tweet about the woes of work we all face.…

A Job offer followed by being Ghosted

Last year I was finishing my university studies, which was another attempt at my final year. This was due to me deferring uni the year prior during the pandemic because the course was entirely online and had a very poor quality of teaching. Combined with the fact I could not access the library or other facilities that helped me focus when I needed to write an essay, plan a presentation or study for an exam. So I went back to university after working for 9 months doing a very difficult manual labour based job that involved dealing molten metal and creating finished products for blast furnaces. This was useful as it provided me with a lot of perspective and I thought it would be beneficial to have as experience with my supply chain management degree. Around a month before I went back to university I had an initial informal discussion…
