I worked for the same boss for 13 years and left that job after a long period of trying to get things to change and not being heard. So i put in my resignation. I had my last day at that job and nothing, no flowers, no card, no thank you, nothing. Extra happy to be gone
Found a Unicorn. I basically explained to my Boss that I was really struggling with my salary, because I take care of my GFs medical expenses (Medication she cannot afford to stop taking, plus unexpected Doctor's appointments). It's basically around 300 Euros a month. I make above-average pay, but the bills really tighten the noose at the end of the month. This wasn't me telling him I “expected a better salary”. This was basically me saying that if a raise was not possible, I would be forced to leave and look for better pay elsewhere. He went and talked it over with the GM, and they immediately redrafted my contract and raised my salary starting next month, saying that they were more than ready to keep me working there. At no point did I hear them speak of HR, company policy, overhead, anything. My Boss is a pretty cool dude.…

Work Injury
Hey guys wanted to ask for some advice . A couple of years ago I worked for the Lowes delivery team and received a back injury when a fridge fell on top of me. (Im really short.) I was encouraged to stay for the rest of the deliveries that day as I was the only helper who could help. I didn’t notice too much pain just a dull ache. A couple of days later pain hit me full throttle. I couldn’t move for three days. I kept calling in but my manager at the time told me I had to go in. I went in that day and to his surprise my back was in pain and I couldn’t move around appliances (dropped a really expensive dryer that was stacked on a washer) I left Lowes a couple months afterwards due to a better opportunity but ever since then I…
There's been a bunch of articles recently speaking to the transfer of wealth between the generations, but my sense is that it's going to be really unequally inherited. Some younger people are going to inherit a lot of money, more than they might be able to make in their lifetime. This would include inheriting an expensive family home that you likely wouldn't be able to buy and pay off. This is going to create tension within friend groups and communities. It would be interesting to see some percentages here. So how much wealth are you expecting to inherit? https://preview.redd.it/99427r6fufw81.png?width=676&format=png&auto=webp&s=54e2d0f563003727ecb18cb8772603a242255efe
So not to go into details but, I’ve been having a hard time at work, expressing my concerns to my boss basicly resulted in ‘shut up and get on with it’. It all came to a head this week, had a meltdown (sobbing, shaking, sweating) and I had to go to the doctors, been put on antidepressants and signed up for theropy. Boss has text everyday asking when I’ll be back in, today I said I’d try and make it in next week. The boss immediately told me to come in earlier than usually because I have work to catch up on, even though the doctor told me to have a few weeks off, but because they don’t offer ANY type of sick pay, I don’t have a choice! Time to write that notice up!
Reduced hours update
Ok, so following on from my post about my hours being reduced I've now been fired this morning their reasoning was “a changing culture at the company, we just don't have the hours to give you” despite hiring 2 more people this week yet there's a shortage of hours? Not just me either, 2 more people were let go today, conveniently we all just completed 6 months on the dot, maybe that has something to do with it? 🤔 Ah well. The contract I signed when I first started was for 30hrs a week but the hours were “proposed” and at no point in time was I ever obligated to receive that amount of hours, according to them the 30hrs per week was what I agreed to work up to should they have it available, which they did up until about 3 weeks ago when I was down to doing…
The 6 hour workday is a blessing
So a little background, I'm from a Muslim Majority country, I finished my studies abroad in Germany and worked there for a time at a fulfillment center, I liked my job, the pay was good, the work was engaging but I worked 8h30 or 9h shifts. Fast forward some time later, and I decide to go back home, so I apply for a bunch of jobs and I land on a position as a performance manager at a logistics firm, the salary was average but I decide “Why not, I don't have anything better to do”. Now here's the fun part, this is taking place during Ramadan, where most companies switch to a 6 hour workday, which I completely forgot about. The amount of stress amd fatigue that was drained away by going from a 9h workday to a 6h workday is unbelievable, I don't spend much time counting hours,…
My Boss Hates Me & Smokes Weed all day.
Started at a new company and I really like it, everyone at the company really likes me including the company owners. But one of my crew chiefs (not the one I regularly work with) clearly doesn’t like me. He expects me to know everything that he’s learned in 20 years in 1 month. As well he’s the only unvaccinated person at the company and won’t even come near me because he’s afraid of getting covid. As well he shows up late everyday and smokes weed all throughout the day (which the owners don’t know about). He just constantly makes remarks about me and my crew Cheif not being able to get anything done, all while he wastes more time than anyone at the company. Everyone at the company thinks he’s an idiot, but he’s good at his job I guess. I just want to tell the owners that he smokes…
