This is going to be long, fair warning. I had been working for Pizza Hut for just over three years. I finally had enough and quit. I live in the northeast where it snows during the winter. we had a really bad ice storm at the beginning of February where it was literally raining ice, on top of a couple inches of fresh snow, for about 7 or 8 hours and the roads were absolutely horrible. Everybody called off due to this so we had to close for the day. I go to work the next morning (Friday) against my better judgment because I was sliding all over the place, roads were still bad but I made it. Well, I got there and did opening cash and all that (I was a shift manager who opened 5 days a week) and the closing manager for that night called off about…
Manager abusing power
I’ve never posted here, or been on this page, or had any reason to use Reddit in general. However, due to various problems with my manager, I’m left with no other option. For backstory, my manager used to be fine, but as of recently he has been heavily abusing his so called power. The biggest incident was covering up and ignoring sexual harassment of a female co worker by a male coworker, and then promoting the male coworker twice! He has a very large ego, and makes many disparaging remarks towards you, along with leaving us to deal with most of the real work while he sits on his phone. He clearly picks favorites, and wrote me up for doing something that he did a few weeks earlier. When I questioned him as to why he can do it but I can’t, his response was “cause I’m the manager”. This…
(i’m on mobile, apologies for any grammatical errors) so a little backstory, i (28f) am a trained culinary professional with degrees in culinary and pastry arts as well as almost 8 years industry experience under my belt (i know that’s not a lot but it’s also not nothing) i started at a new job back in november 2021. i had left a good paying job that i loved and was passionate about but was an hour away from my home to be closer to my family and have a better work/life balance. since starting at this new place, i’ve had a few experiences that have left a bad taste in my mouth, if you will. these include but are not limited to, my Chef having zero knowledge of my educational or professional background and being condescending/talking down to me, the people i work with having no respect for the fact…
Ideas about organizing my local store
I worked there off and on for almost 8 years and, while conditions aren't terrible, they could be way better. The amount of corruption and bullshit I've seen, the way they treat their employees like numbers and complaints fall on deaf ears, and the bullshit wages make me sick. Fortunately I'm out of that hell hole and have a much better job. But the more I read in this sub the more I want to get a pro union movement going there. I've thought about flyers and talking to old friends who still work there. I'd entertain any ideas you folks have.
Troubling Feedback after interview…
[/quote]Please see below the feedback from the HM: Although applicant has the laboratory experience and 3 years of data validation experience with radiological and other chemistry data, this company feels that the applicant would not be a good fit for the position. The applicant was employed for approximately 20 years with the same employer and decided to leave his position in August 2021 for a career path change. During the progression of the interview, it became clearer to the company's team that the applicant was seeking employment within the realm of data analytics as the applicant's goal seemed to be to ascertain certifications within that field. The applicant struggled during much of the interview to provide explanations and clarifications which draws question regarding the applicants communication and report writing skills that are also needed for this position. We also were concerned about the applicant's ability to work efficiently and…
Need advice from a software programmer
So I got accepted into a job that is requiring me to take like ten online video courses. The slide plays and then I have to manually click “next slide.” The problem? There are at least 40-60 slides in each course. The last course took me over an hour. I’m not getting paid for ANY of this. And I want so bad to just say fuck it, but I literally cannot. So programmers of Reddit, is there anyway to program the slides so that they auto play without any input from me? I’ll just have it running in the background like an audiobook or something. (I tried googling and couldn’t find anything. I enabled “auto play” on safari, but that hasn’t changed anything) Edit: apparently auto clickers do not work. They’ll work for the pause the video button, but not the next slide button. I’m not sure how they managed…
Pearls Before Swine
Another freeloader restaurant.
My mother-in-law just had dinner at a restaurant in my town. For a sandwich and piece of cake she was charged $24. Then she looks at her bill and noticed an 18% “service fee”. She doesn't like being forced to tip a certain amount so she asked her server about it, and they went and got the owner. The owner told her that the service fee isn't a gratuity, but IT'S A WAY FOR US TO PAY OUR WORKERS A LIVING WAGE. My mother-in-law replied back if you guys can't pay them a living wage, you shouldn't be in business. DAMN STRAIGHT!! Edit: ok some of you didn't read what I wrote evidently. I never said she didn't have money to pay for the meal. She's a big aupporter in our community. The service was bad tonight and food wasn't very good. That was the whole she didn't understand the…
Forced them to pay me.
I've been with a company for a few years now. To be honest, I really enjoy working there, they really like me and often tell me how great I am and how important I am to the business. The benefits are really good and it's very flexible and everyone has the option to work remote if they choose. The only drawback is the pay. It's on the lower end for this industry, and it's a lot less than I can get elsewhere. Recently we had massive layoffs. I was pretty shocked and worried about the company's future but they assured things were OK, it was due to a future contract falling through for pandemic reasons. Thing is, these people had work, and it still needed to get done. So I have double the work to do in the same amount of hours and same pay. There's a disconnect here. To…
i know this is trite but i'm reading /r/wholefoods and jesus christ it's just so dumb. why why why must they dictate something so fucking meaningless i worked at dominos for a month and the manager was on my ass about wearing black shorts for two weeks. the black shorts i was wearing were apparently dark gray and not okay. we had to wear our hats facing forward, even after close because 'there are cameras'. [amazing.] place was creepy as hell. they want us to look like creepy little catholic choir boys with tacky-ass dominos gear. insane.
