I need some help please

Sorry, this may be long. I had orientation for my new job yesterday. After the orientation I met with my manager to see what day she wanted me to come back to begin training. She introduced me to the head dispatcher and told me I will be training with her and the hours for training will be 8am-4:30pm. Then introduced me to another person and told me that I will be taking over for her because she will be going to an earlier schedule, I then asked her well what schedule would I be working and she said 11am-8pm. This is where the problem is… in the interview I was not told that I would be working 11-8 I was told 8-4:30 m-f and every third Saturday. I would’ve never accepted a position or wasted my time for a position that works 11-8. I have a 9 year old son…

Old boss middle man for potential new job

I kind of need some opinions on this. You'll need some back into first. In 2015 I started working with a very disturbed angry man. He was very demeaning and insulting and after 3 years I had enough and quit. Fast forward to now and on Friday the 15th I applied for a job through indeed. Posting was gone following day. I get a text Tuesday from said old boss that says “I applied for this position and they are his neighbors, let's chat” Ummmmm wtf I call him and she's asking normal shit but since he can't remember he is asking me for the answers. He says he will write up an email and send to me to see. Next day he calls. She is asking for more information. This question was a personal one that was only mentioned between him and I. Obviously being neighbors means you chat.…

Everyone is hiring? Where?

My bf is the most likable, hard working, and intelligent person I know. He went to a reputable college and got a comp. engineering degree. His last job of 3 years let him go a week before Christmas and he’s yet to find a job despite applying to over 200 places and taking a coding course in the meantime. I really thought he may have been exaggerating the numbers until I checked out this sub and saw people with PHDs and similar degrees with the same issue. He desperately wants to work. So for the meantime he’s been walking dogs like crazy to make ends meet. Good for him. I’m proud of his hustle but it boils my blood to no end seeing companies say “no one wants to work” while this man is walking dogs just so he doesn’t drown in his student loans that he ideally would be…

How can my boss see what’s on my personal phone?

Posting this for my coworker as I'm involved too. My coworker went to the hospital yesterday while at work (allergic reaction as the kitchen told her there was no nuts in her food and there was). While there I was texting her and checking in on her, she sent me a photo oh her with a towel on her head in the hospital bed on what's app (she took the photo in the app so it wasn't saved to her phone). The next day at work she spoke to our boss who didn't even ask her about the incident but she brought it up and then our boss said 'oh yeah I saw the picture with you with the towel on your head, looked rough'. The thing is, neither of us showed her that picture. How is it possible? Our boss is a 60yo technically challenged individual but our CEO…

Full time internship cut my hours

So the whole deal is to work less here and I get that but today at my co-op( college work study) I been told that my new position won't let me work more than 40 hrs a week and they only have the “budget” for 25 hours while hiring a new team manager and it was this same manager that pushed to get a meeting to reduce my hours today I felt powerless as even I said I want to work 40hrs it wouldn't budge. The whole job is just me doing tickets and sending emails and I really work 1 hr a day due to being at home and ADHD but after today I am ready to move on from this company and go to another place. On a side note I am learning to web dev to make my own business but that's a slower process for now…

HR Surveys Suck

Let me give you an example. About give or take a year ago we had HR send out an anonymous survey to all the employees at the site because said site couldn't keep people and they wanted to know why. As you can imagine it didn't go anywhere. We blamed management for how poorly things were being managed, more specifically our Fire Manager promoted to Operations Manager. I'll explain why that's relevant in a few. We also said we worked great with our co-workers. Here's what HR said about it all, we the workers were working together to make management look bad despite many specific instances being brought up in those surveys! The Ops Manager claimed to be new to the position and pushed blame onto the supervisors which is a complete lie because as a Fire Manager for the last 7 year's he's had to sub in as the…

Was I wrongfully fired?

I wasn't going to pursue this further, but people encouraged me to post online and get more feedback. If it seems like this might've been illegal, I plan on reaching out to an attorney that could hopefully work pro bono. Otherwise, thanks for reading my post. Hey all. So I was recently fired from my job. It's been two weeks now, I've been processing the entire event and dealing with the shift. I worked as a geologist at an engineering firm in NM, where I was employed for 7 months. My time there was.. tumultuous in a way. The work environment was generally pretty toxic, I gave it plenty of chances, tried to shift my perspectives, etc but at the end of the day, I worked for someone who would get upset at me for asking questions, always giving me a very passive-aggressive attitude, rolling their eyes, explaining complex…

A coworker harrassed and cussed me out but didn’t get fired

It was me and my boyfriend both who were harrassed, we work at the same place, who both got verbally abused and cussed out by a coworker. We work in manufacturing. Monday night we were on lunch break and were outside in the parking lot with a few other coworkers. All of a sudden, a coworker races into the lot, parks his car and SPRINTS out of his car and into the plant. A second later a cop pulls in. They asked us if we knew who that car belonged to, if he worked here. My boyfriend told the cops his name and that he sprinted inside. At this point our supervisor comes over wondering what was going on, and he lead the cops inside to find our fleeing coworker. The cops did find him, and he wasn't arrested but they did detain him. The story is, our coworker was…

Company Responses to Inflation / Raises and WFH Flexibility

Work for a small employee-owned company who takes reasonably good care of me in general. I like the people I work with and like what I do. Pay is overall above average I think. We had a company meeting and questions were submitted to management to answer. Here are the responses on raises not keeping up with inflation, possibility for changes to WFH policy, and what they want to do to retain young talent. On raises not keeping up with inflation due to sales this year being lower (still very profitable for the year and for the four owners). Bad answer… “We’re not intending to make you whole on everything the government does wrong. We try to price salaries competitive in the marketplace and as inflation shows itself in salaries we will try to keep up. We aren’t going to give raises to keep up with the bigger inflation. The…
