I just can’t with this job
So I've been at my job for 9 months. Never late, never called out. Stay over when I need to, come in early when asked. On my way to work today, my transmission goes out of my van. I'm trying to pull into a parking lot to get out of traffic. I had someone offer to push it out of the way. So I call work to explain that my car is broke down, I'm blocking a portion of the road, I've gotta find a way to get it towed and get it fixed…only God knows how that's gonna happen cause I sure as hell don't get paid enough for that. My managers response is..i will come pick you up so you can work tonight. No. No you won't. I'm not gonna spend the next 8 hours stressed and crying cause I have no vehicle and no money to fix…
A new manager started where I work last Monday, I caught covid and was out on Friday. Today at the end of my shift he called me into his office and gave me a 20 minute bullshit talk about working hard. He told me I’ve gotten too comfortable in my position and had to “change a lot of things”. He blamed multiple shortcomings from other staff on me and said he was putting me on a performance improvement plan. I have been working for the company for two years as of next month and have received nothing but praise regarding my work ethic. I hate this shit
sexually harrassed, and understaffed
I work at a goodwill donation center in a small town. I am the only person here who works 5-6 days a week, alone. I have been getting over 50 donations a day, so i complained about being understaffed. To put this further into perspective, the big city by me gets 100 daily donations with 3 people working daily. Their solution? Hire a incompetent freak who sexually harassed me on her first day. When i brought this up, HR did not get involved, she did not get fired, nor punished. She does not do her work properly, so i routinely have to fix everything she messes up. I have 5-6 people come in a day complaining about her, including truck drivers. She let a little old lady stand out in the rain, and unload an entire truck load by herself…. I am in utter disbelief at how this company does…
I have worked in customer service for well over a decade. Retail, and now an office environment as a CSR. They always tell us “ let the customers vent, listen, empathize.” Which I do. I try to anyway. But far too many people make it near impossible. I let them vent, wait until they’ve been quiet for a solid bit of time before saying anything, then they interrupt me. Then accuse me of interrupting them. This happens A LOT. If you called us because you need our help, why can’t you shut up and let us help you? If I can’t get a single word in, how am I supposed to help? Today I had a guy who wanted to speak with one of the other reps in the office, his phone cut out when he said his name, so I politely asked him if he’d repeat his name. He…
The school district I live in is desperate for new bus drivers. They take no blame for their own actions and point fingers at everything else. It was unemployment checks for a while, now people are just too lazy. They did do a good thing a while ago and raise the starting wage from about $17 to $18 and hour, but we are talking about a job with a highly irregular schedule doing a specialized task and dealing with children. It’s hard for drivers to take on a second job because the hours they are available are at odd times in the middle of the day and they can’t be flexible on that. So how has the school district tried to solve this? At first it was make everyone in the Transpo department with a Class B license drive pick up routes. Not hired to be a driver but have…
