I done a short course (2 days) just to access the agencies services and jobs board. I've applied for maybe 20 jobs and they only actually sent maybe 3 to an employer. Which is absolutely ridiculous. On top of that they sent me for an interview for a role I really wanted and when I failed because they didn't give me the right information, the woman tried to blame me and not herself and is now playing coy with the interviews phone number because the only real feedback I got was that I “didn't seem to know what the role would entail”. Which I'm not happy with I want more details on the specifics. Now I need to go in tomorrow to finish off the paperwork but then they'll get a substantial lump sum for me doing the course and any desire to help will just go. I'm pretty nervous…
TLDR: Boss lies about a lot of things and I keep catching him in his own BS without him knowing. I don't trust him and since he doesn't even answer the phone for employment verification, I just want to get fired. He moved for reasons I don't understand and does a lot of micromanaging and annoying crap. I have my own business I want to start but I'm stuck under his thumb. What do? This situation sucks. I'm not venting as much as trying to get a consensus on the situation. I was about to quit this company I'm currently working at when the COVID-19 pandemic started. At that time, I saw everyone getting laid off, but MAKING MORE MONEY while I continued working from home. People getting paid for doing nothing. (I have no issue with it except not being able to enjoy it.) I got to work from…
Let’s annoy some scammers!
Need some advice here about what next steps should happen in response to a really rough meeting I just had with my manager and supervisor. Let me set the stage here: I work for a county parks and recreation department in WA state doing the mowing and other such horticultural activities. I’ve worked in parks and rec for a very long time doing just about everything there is, as well as general managing a few private landscape companies. I am very good at maintenance. I started with the county and worked my ass off the last year to get many of their parks (which were not in good shape) back to a high-standard of aesthetic as well as doing some extra work that needed done (redoing some of the parks irrigation systems, weeding that hadn’t been done in god knows how long, hitting a few extra parks to help out…
A common response here to unfair employer practices is “report them to the labor board!) i’m curious if anyone has actually successfully done that? how long did it take, what was the final result??
I have a spreadsheet of general questions and answers but I am not landing a job for some reason.
Can’t Catch a Break
I had a mental breakdown at work a couple of weeks ago and was stupidly honest with my supervisor. I went into her office in tears and explained that I do suffer from depression and that I seriously need time off. She made a small joke about how I need to use my remaining vacation time because sick time is for being actually sick… I ended up going on FMLA with a note from my doctor (the appointment ended up costing me $150 after insurance). Of course federal FMLA doesn’t pay but my state offers FMLA also (which we pay into) and they do pay; however, they are extremely back-logged with claims and my case has yet to even be assigned. I called HR and explained to them that I simply can’t afford to be out of work for a month with zero pay. Basically, their offer was for me…
The propaganda was so bad, the words to describe this system became dirty: Socialism. Communism. Communism literally translates to “means of production owned by the people”. Of course these words frighten the elite, as they should. They had to make the common man fear them too… The US capitalist government, controlled by the wealthy, conspired to destroy the pro worker, pro union, anti-elite left leaning 'communist' parties of the USA. They enacted laws which persecuted, harassed, and vilified such party members. This is why the US doesn't have any left leaning parties remaining – it was by design. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Party_USA The notion that such a worker-empowered system automatically conflates with failed states committing of atrocities by authoritarian regimes, is as valid as stating that all democracies are failed states such as the “Democratic republic of Congo”… which is utterly ridiculous… …yet the people fell for it hook line and sinker. The…
