i'm just going off cause im very angry rn as someone who's looking for jobs and already is tired of the continuous asking of me to make an entire account for each individual company i apply to, for whatever fucking reason. but the most annoying thing will always be finally finishing retyping all of the shit that's literally on your resume, just to be met with that dreadful follow up email. “thank you for taking your time to apply, now the next step is to do a 30 minute personality test so we can figure out how depressed you really are and if you will sacrifice your sanity and physical health for this 15/hr job.” it's fucking ludicrous. i just had a job (it was a big bank company) tell me i needed to download a gaming app to finish the “next step” of my application. i was reading the…
Did a really good job for someone got in and out fast and got the job done total came out to 155 customer gave me 200 and told him what's going on he said take it to the office they will give me change. Now the office says they have to process it and I will have the tip tomorrow but I'm not hopeful. I should have just broke the bill at the gas station kept my 45 and gave them exact change I have a feeling they are going to pull some bull shit
I'm about to interview for a job with homeless youth. I have plenty of experience, not worried about it very much. I'm preparing for it right now, and re-reviewing the job description as part of my preparation. While reviewing, I noticed it says “[…] benefit of professional/casual dress […] therefore, expects no deviation from the policy […] including inappropriate clothing, make up, hair, and jewelry”. What does this even mean? Is it legal for them to dictate appearance like this, including make up? What even is “inappropriate make up”? I just want to know my rights. Please only sincere answers. Thanks ahead.
Turns out the guy who would have been my boss fucking quit the same day I was supposed to get an offer. This was for a Motion designer job for a big Edtech company. $60,000 – $65,000/year salary, fully benefitted, and remote. I really wanted this job. Three weeks of interviews. Aced every single one. I even made an animation for them for free, making a custom social ad for their brand, and shared all the project files them so they could see how I work. On Friday they said “We'd reach a decision by early next week”. On Monday, I heard nothing. On Tuesday the recruiter emails me “Just checking in, we'll have a decision if not late today, early tomorrow”. At 4:30pm on Wednesday the Recruiter calls me and says “In true startup fashion the position that we had for you is no longer available due to a…
I think I finally broke
I’m still furious from what just happened so I’m not in the mood to fully explain the situation so I’ll come back and edit later but basically I was told 2 weeks ago that I’d be getting a promotion from my straight out of college job as an AutoCAD drafter to mechanical engineer which is what my degree is in. The salary/raise that they offered me is 33% lower than the average starting salary and after my projected 3 year progression it is still 12% lower than the average starting salary. The whole time the HR guy was talking to me his tone was all happy like he was offering me such a good deal and I just smiled and said yeah sounds good because I have nothing else lined up and they said it’s nom negotiable so I’m going to accept and dip the first chance I can
I know I should be asking about this from known professionals on LinkedIn, but I can't resist ranting here for a minute. I was hired on 7 months ago. My co-worker was hired on 4 months ago. Neither of us are veterans at the company. My co-worker has his BS and 10 years of experience. At time of hire, I had my MS and was nearing 20 years of experience. (I've added a significant credential since time of hire…and the pretentious people in my profession put the certification's initialsacronym after their name on emails, business cards, etc.) And I just found out (like a few minutes ago) that he's 2 steps above me on the company paycareer scales. I understand that means his salary is ~$15k more than mine. (Likely $15k. It could only be $5k more. It could also be just shy of $60k more.) When I've found out…
