Went to go in for an interview today and the first thing I'm told is they've already hired someone else, the assholes didn't even tell me when I was literally in contact with them the day before. Like if they had told before hand, I would have been annoyed sure but I had to walk down to their shop while in a lot of pain all for nothing. Really scummy and annoying
And they want us to notify them if we leave the building for our breaks or take longer than 30 minutes. Yet management can take an hour or more and not tell anyone where they are or where they’re going if they leave. I guess we’re all kindergartners again.
I'll start off by saying I am very fortunate in that I have a financial-secure salaried job that i am generally happy with. HOWEVER. Our company was purchased by a larger corporation last fall. We had a webinar yesterday explaining our new benefits, including health insurance options. It's just SO frustrating how complicated all the different plans are. And of course when trying to compare to our current plans, they are like “Oh well we can't compare apples to oranges; your current plan has HSA and WE offer HRA which is WAY BETTER”. They didn't even bother to mention how much this will cost out of our paycheck each month. I am so sick of our insurance being tied to our jobs, and how confusing it all is. It's like calculus! I wish we had universal health care.
I was hired at full time but I took another job and dropped to part time. It was never changed in their system and my hours varied wildly from week to week. This last check they used all my saved vacation time to “bump my hours up to full time” with no communication. But I was also texted that I lost my full time status. Is this legal? I am in Washington state
Seriously, how can we gauge interest or begin a FAIR negotiation process if employers (or their 3rd party recruiters) are insisting on keeping their rank-and-file as ignorant as possible when it comes to wages?
I know, I know, I’m fitting the stereotype. But after 9 years of working I just really don’t care anymore. I used to think I wanted to find a career and build something but then as I got older I realized the more you move up the more responsibility you get, the more hours you have to work, more stress. For maybe a bit more money but at a cost. Now, I could honestly care less about being challenged in my job. I have come to the conclusion I just want something to work normal hours and make enough money to live my life, even if it isn’t a lot. I get to work from home, finish all my work in 3 hours, and you leave me alone? Great! I’m happy as a clam. My current job and some past jobs I’ve had are kind of this way and I…
Here’s mine: The routine that you fall into. It becomes very boring very fast. Almost like there’s less freedom. You’re tied to your job. You have a huge obligation that you must stick with and show up for unless you want to risk your income source which means risking your wellbeing. Because of this, things like: moving, vacations, and planning things becomes difficult and stressful. Having less time for the things everyone actually enjoys: hobbies, art, music, hanging with friends, vacations. The expected small talk with coworkers that you may have nothing in common with. It can be draining. The money in your bank account does not make up for the amount of time you’re giving up to your job. You will never get that time back.
For “urgently hiring” doesn't seem like it
