I’m pissed.

Company gave me 2 different checks to buy a bunch of stuff for the job. Laptop, softwares etc. The deposits didn’t go through to my bank, which I didn’t know until the next day, after I bought the stuff. So I confronted them about it, and got into this whole thing. they’re saying I need to pay more money to them for them to be able to give me my money back. some screenshots Edit: thank you everyone, I of course at this point know this is a scam, but that doesn’t make me less pissed, lol. I contacted my bank, and reported the incident to the FTC.

Post office job bait and switch?

My son- (25M) has been looking for full time work since November when his seasonal job ended. Has an English degree from WVU- I know- he knows- almost waste of paper and lots of cash. Applies for a posted full time job with the USPS. Gets email with “job offer.” Passes background check, drivers history etc…. Goes to be fingerprinted today. Guy in charge there says yeah- don’t give up your current job yet because it can take up to two months to get officially hired, and btw- it might say full time but it’s really 7 days a week/4 hours a day. No guaranteed hours, no uniform for at least three months and you can expect to be on a different route almost every day. Oh and you use your own car to get wherever you are assigned. Why work harder when no recognition is given? Boss has no clue of overtime and extra accomplishments were made. Time to go?

I am halfway out the door because of the amount of stress and internal staff conflict and BS blaming over the past few year. Today I got my performance review where my boss gave me his opinion based on biased opinion from other department, I was floored because he didn't consult with people I work with on daily basis…. speechless and utterly under appreciated. Edit: I was taking my colleague work on top of my duties because she was having personal leave for 6 months and yet my boss didn't mention my dedication… I was flabbergasted.

WFH Attendance Expectations? Annual review drama.

Hello all. I joined a new company last year. It’s a multi million dollar business that has moved nearly all of its employees remote because of the pandemic. I am currently in preparations for my first annual review. We have a formal survey to complete, with a numbered score being assigned to a rating scale. The manager then adds their opinion after you submit your self-evaluation. One of the questions was about attendance. I gave myself the rating equivalent of “exceeds expectations” and my manager gave me “generally adheres to standards”. I called off a total of three days last year. The first time was for me being sick, and I was out for two days in a row. The second was a single day for my daughter. Am I missing something? I thought missing three days in an entire year was exceptionally good? Am I never supposed to be…

I think my job is abusing me?

Hey guys, so after months of looking around and applying for jobs, I was offered a job with a pay raise of 75%, plus benefits, compared to what I currently make now. I went to work and put my two weeks in, and my colleagues at first seemed happy for me. Then things got a little weird. My timesheet from last week has been completely edited. The managers have taken off any extra time I worked and lowered it below the 40 hours I had made that week. Next I saw the schedule, and i’m scheduled to work the next 8 days in a row with no day off?! My manager and her husband both work here, and I’ve been covering his 2-10 shifts all week while he’s out of town, and she texts me today and goes, “well can you also do 2-10 on Sunday, I have a dinner…

Need Advice.

Hi, I don't know if you guys can help me but I work at a bookstore and last week, my manager texted me that he doesn't have any extra money on the payroll for me so he will schedule my hours next week so when the new week was about to start, I texted him that what are my hours? He texted me the same thing and he'll let me know for next week(which its right now this is second week). So the weekend is coming and I don't know what to say and I'm feeling he'll say same thing or I get laid off. So what's your advice? Plus, I'm actively looking for a new job as well.

Can someone be sued for handing out free food at their job?

I just found of my gf has been pretending to scan peoples cards but canceling the order to give them free food on occasion. Maybe once or twice a day. Her training sucked so she could always claim ignorance, but could she personally get in trouble for this beyond being fired?

Is humanity even redeemable at this point? Are we already past the precipice?

Been spending the past several years sporadically, not at all consistently, checking in on the news in the misguided hope that maybe something good had happened. A reason to have hope again. Something good for the working class, or good for defeating corruption, or good for derailing the authoritarian track many countries are headed down, or good to the massive schism polarizing the political landscape, or good for the health of the planet, or good for the marginalized communities, or good for the stability of the world. Years now, and it's almost never anything good. It's just always a continuation or elevation of all the bad. Yes, news is designed to work this way, but what tangibly good things have happened that will benefit the majority of the population in a way that compares to the other stories we hear? Upper management playing the “do we really need this position?” game… ironically we are in the entertainment industry

I have a direct report who was hired on as a contractor (before I was hired). Just overall an amazing person and one of the most passionate, reliable and genuinely nice people I have ever met. The company has promised that person an FTE position for 9 months now. When I joined that team the company even made it my goal to convert the person to FTE. Well, the contract is supposed to expire in two weeks one week after a major project comes to an end. I’ve provided data of our workload, roi, all the other bs upper management needs, reasons why this position can’t be eliminated, collected feedback from our internal stakeholders that this person is needed!
