Dammit!

I just found a 15min break coupon from my old job. It expired in 2013 and I’m pissed I didn’t use it!

“Love what you do and you never work a day in your life,” is this brainwashing?

Growing up I (30F) heard this a lot and when it came time to go to college I was reminded of this so I majored in what I “love” which was art/graphic design and I regretted it. In college it was drilled into me by multiple professors that in order to succeed I needed to “live and breathe design” and to literally consume it even when standing in line at the grocery store (look at design on Pinterest, etc). Jobs in the field paid little to nothing and required long hours plus weekends and professors said how normal this is. I remember we had guest speakers who even said they had no time for relationships/starting a family because their “passion” took precedence. That’s fine and dandy but I found it kind of sad. I remember the disgust my professor had when talking about a former colleague who left design to…

This community in my opinion is a bunch of overgrown infants who have been sheltered

This community seems to be full of people who have been sheltered from reality for so long (probably by parent or school) that they think they can just change the reality of life entirely as too not have the burden of needing to put something in to get something out, you know the whole planet relies on work to function from the bees and ants “slaving away” to keep their colony alive and the ecosystem running to humans producing good and services through work to provide for others, a lot of you really need to question yourself at too why you think like this because all I see is a bunch of people who are just plain lazy and don’t need to work because it outsourced by someone else like the government or your parents, and doing all this well trying to convince yourself that your morally superior and care…

Hello darkness my friend.

I just started to work after 10 months career break. Almost 3 months in the workforce and why the hell I feel really tired already?! Going to work feels like torturing anyway, is there such thing as work ptsd??? And I been seeing and reading that some people change their job every year. Which means they are technically never stopped looking for a job. How do you guys do it? Or how do you guys answer to your interviewer?? I am thinking to jump to another company again to find so called my happy work place (if only it exists)

The French aren’t antiwork, they’re just considerate.

French taxes are one of the highest in Europe which means my salary is pitiful compared to the UK or States. However here is a list of benifits and I want you to determine “is it worth it?” 35 days paid holiday (not including bank holiday) Don't work every other Friday. Full health insurance including the wife and kids I like this one – if my boss talks to me about work whilst I'm on my lunch break, I get to restart my lunch break. Lunch paid for (usually go to a workers restaurant – 9.95euros per day) Dicounts on family holidays.

When Communism Works

I can think of only one instance where a type of Communism has produced wealth and prosperity: The Hutterites. This small and enigmatic denomination of Anabaptists doesn't believe in private property and doesn't pay taxes either. Apart from agriculture, they also produce everything else within their colonies, including clothing and soap. If they fall short of anything, they'll trade with other Hutterite colonies. Unlike the Amish, they do not spurn technology. They frown upon addiction and only use technology to improve their competitive advantage. They sell produce mainly and make a lot of coin, which goes directly to their community fund. Every hutterite gets a house, clothing, food, and other necessities for free. Everybody works to produce something and nobody gets paid. This is as close to proper communism as you can get (minus the atheism). The Hutterites build wealth by selling to the outside world but seldom buy. Since…

Time is mine when…

Hello! I am doing a project about time and work, would you help me by completing this sentence? “Time is mine when…” If you could be specific it would help me a lot (eg I fall asleep without setting an alarm, I cry, I take my dogs for a walk). You can put several answers per person. Thank you so much!!
