In short, the company hosting the commuter train service in Stockholm, Sweden, has decided to remove “train hosts” (tågvärdar), personnel responsible for comfort and safety of passengers, replaced them with cameras — a decision made by regional politicians — and put their responsibilities on the drivers. The drivers are now the single responsible person onboard, for up to 1800 passengers, in case of accidents, and persons who need assistance in their travel can no longer spontaneously travel but must book their travel in advance. This fight — that has been going on for 2 years — has been abandoned by the unions, and the drivers themselves now demand the return of the train hosts, hence the wildcat strike. I work for a large tire company that services a very LARGE distributing company. I personally go out every Saturday to change tires, fix flats, rotates anything to make sure these truck and trailers are operational and safe for the drivers. This last Saturday the Fleet manger asked me why we have been putting brand new $500+ tire on trailers and Congears when we should be using retread tires that cost $200. I told him the truth, which is my company has been doing this for the past 2 years before I started and took over the account. I currently work at a job I really like. I decided back in February I would add a 2nd job because the hours were actually perfect based on what they said. I interviewed 2 times with them. They picked me, all good. They made it seem great. I started and right away I noticed a couple things wrong.
