The company had two employees bring in a ps5 to hook into the network for some late night gaming when it was slow over the holiday- this sent up a big red flag at corporate IT who thought the server was being hacked (they got hacked in 2022 and lost control of the server for several days). Corporate got involved, two employees lost their jobs. Was this justified? Discuss.
I had a vacation scheduled 3 months in advance where I was going out of the country. The week before my vacation I caught covid. I turned in the necessary paperwork to let them know I was sick with covid that was on Monday the 12th. My manager left me message saying a could work remotely, which I had been begging for for months, or if I wasn't feeling up to it he would see me on the 27th (the end of my vacation). On the 19th (first day of my vacation) I received an email claiming I abandoned my job and I was terminated on the 19th. Being out of the country I had no internet access. On the 26th I called in to let them know I could be in on the 27th because my Southwest flight was cancelled (they screwed themselves and everyone who booked with them…
Should I apply
I just noticed my company has an open job ad on a website. Should I apply for it? Because I wasn't told we were looking to expand so it must be to replace me or my coworker. Should I apply for it so they know we see it? IDC if I get reprimanded or anything, I know I can get a similarly paying position on my home from work so no big deal What do ya'll think?
merry Christmas…. thanks it’s new years…
Happy new years my slave labor bosses just fired me after having me work ot with him…. gotta love doing your asshole employer a favor. Stayed late to help with his lack of doing inventory. Afterwards ask if anything else he needs. Yes he says, come up stairs, fires me over complaining about my peers harassing me and smoking cigarettes everywhere in the company! Then hands me a bottle of wine and says merry Christmas. Like this is Seattle 2022 and you do this shit??? Oh wait it's bout to be 2023, new level of bs welcome bro. Happy holidays my fellow slave's!
Crazy that when I got COVID they didn’t pay the holiday but now after I got my flight cancelled with no way of coming back they shit on me again by not paying me for the holiday. Happy Holidays I guess.
Fun Covid story from my old employer
I used to work at a nursing home and during the height of Covid we were required to come in and test twice a week, whether we were scheduled to work or not. I showed up at 7am to test on my day off and had recently lost my voice due to allergy/sinus issues that I get literally every time the seasons change. I knew this is what it was so I let my boss know when I arrived to get my in-house test. She told me she couldn’t test me if I was sick (??) and told me I couldn’t come back until I went and got tested for Covid somewhere els (????). Apparently this was corporates rule. I had also been tested just 2 days prior. I understand taking precautions why refuse to test me and know for sure within 15 minutes? At this time testing was even…
Inflation is around 7-8%this year
And my COLA raise is 3% so basically I got a pay decrease. Anyone else got a pay decrease like me?
I work in a unionized call center where we all make the same amount of money at different “steps” of time being there and all make the same at final step. There are no incentives to really go “above and beyond” to take more calls. When we process our work, it is actually very technical, so management cares more about error rate. I have a coworker who knocks herself out taking 20 to 30 or more calls every day when our average is 14 to16. It bothers me at times because management always seems to try and take things away or add more stats when our union contract is up for renewal. And, I'm concerned because they might get an idea to use her as their “poster person” to try and change that stat when our work is hard enough. It seems like we have to fight tooth and nail…
