Came to work one day with a note on my desk from a coworker asking for money for their newborn coming soon. The thing is, I barely talk to them except for work related tasks. I decided I did not want to contribute, but then my boss asked everyone if we want to help give money. One by one, they all said yes, and that left me. So socially speaking it would look bad on me to not contribute, and reluctantly I said yes. Then my boss decides she wants to go all in on one gift, and everyone says yes. By principal this angers me. Not everyone gets paid the same wage, so why would someone who gets paid less have to contribute the same amount? This is just a rant I guess, but my boss makes a lot more than me and yet I have to pay the same.
