PTO and managers

I am a registered veterinary technician at a busy emergency hospital. About 5-6 weeks ago I put in a PTO request for this Saturday 6/24. It was denied by my manager because she could not find coverage and another person was already on PTO. Fine. My supervisor tends to have a bad habit of taking off whenever he wants, leaving late/early. Us normal workers are not allowed to clock in even one minute late and it goes on our record.

I recently asked my manager if my supervisor is held to the same standard of attendance as us, and the answer was yes (he’d be fired by now).

Come to find out, my supervisor last minute took the whole entire week off for a family wedding he forgot about. Including the Saturday I asked off for over a month prior. So he can take it off without coverage but I can’t?

I’m strongly considering calling off. Do I talk to my manager and let her know my disappointment and inform her I won’t be here? Or do I just call off that morning?

TL;DR supervisor short notice took off a day on a day I put in PTO for 5 weeks ago. My request was denied but he short notice was able to take off. Do I just call off?
