Tell me why, boss…

Had to vent after taking a hit on my hours because business is slow. TL:DR my boss knows very little about their own business. Tell me why you won’t give me a raise after about a year when my workload increased twofold because I have already hit the wage ceiling, but hired another person to “help lighten the load”. Sounds logical, except this person was shit at their job and it only added more stress and more work for me even after you let this person go. Seriously, a few dollars more an hour would have saved you a hell of a lot of trouble and money. Tell me why you won’t give me a raise after about a year when my workload increased twofold because I have already hit the wage ceiling, but hired another person to “help lighten the load”. Sounds logical, except this person was shit at their job and it only added more stress and more work for me even after you let this person go. We sure did our best but it ended up backfiring spectacularly and we lost both product and revenue. Some consulting would do you good.

Tell me why you keep gaslighting us by saying things like “I had faith in you guys to get it done” or “I guess I expected too much” instead of taking responsibility for your bad decisions that we are expected to follow. Also, us asking you not to overpromise the customers doesn’t mean we are being negative, we are being REALISTIC. We are not magicians who can make anything happen instantly.

Tell me why despite our pleas to not over promise and not give us unrealistic goals (like the equivalent of building a good quality, custom made, solid house in 24 hours), you keep making them. Saying “no pressure” to the situation won’t make the pressure any less.

Tell me why you get shocked and shaken that people keep mass exiting.

Tell me why you won’t let us help vet the people you are hiring instead of just hiring people who look good on social media.

Tell me why you insist on micromanaging our individual jobs when you know very little about it.

Tell me why it takes forever to get our work materials and being made to improvise. And in the rare instance it worked you make it part of the new standard instead of getting what we actually need.

Trust me, I love my job. I am proud of the work I have done, but now it’s just a paycheck. Congratulations on losing a member of your work family. I’ll be fine being a bean counter until I find something better. And yea, I look for jobs on the clock.
