Unveiled today: Mandatory Saturdays!

I started this new job in February, after becoming frustrated by my previous job. They were slowly asking more of me, I was burning out, and they were requiring us to work rotating weekends. Everyone needs adequate time off. After looking for a new job, having a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, I wound up in a factory and have been very happy with my choice up until this point. See, today I went in, and our group leader was going around and spreading the news. As of next weekend, all full time employees are required to come in on Saturdays. Everyone who waived their day of rest, works 13 on and one day off.

During my interview process, they mentioned another department works 13 days on, one day off. And my department works Monday-Friday. I was given the choice and signed paperwork stating my availability.

I’m wondering, could they fire me or give me points against my attendance for not showing up on Saturdays? Could I get a doctors note stating limited hours I can work?
I don’t want to change jobs again. I love the work I do, even if its just running around a machine.
