tired of hearing this from retired chodes who bought their house for a dollar and a snickers bar back in the 80s. I'm not gonna take “whatever i can” and not be given the opportunity to work up. ive just turned 20 and have been unemployed for a full year now by taking their advice. working dogshit minimum wage jobs that drained me mentally, being laid off from the last one with no real notice, and now I dont have the energy to do it all over again.
I wonder how fast it'd take them to crumple if they took their own advice and lived in our shoes for a minute. Go work that minimum wage retail job and see how long it takes you to “work your way up” to afford even half of the rent here in Washington.
genuinely what is the point of working now? I know antiwork is work reform, and not abolish work entirely, but fuck sakes, you can't live on your own anymore. the only thing working would do for me is allow me to buy more gas to go on mindless drives to keep my sanity, you can't even save up money anymore if you lived on your own, immediately spending it on bills and groceries, gas, repairs, all that shit.
help me to understand, if you have the ability to freeload off your parents (if they can afford it), then why is anyone going out there to work? sure you can save up money and get your own place one day, but once mom and dad stop holding your hand, wtf next? 3 jobs to keep an APARTMENT's roof over my head? nada.
