Why do these big urgent care chains like Medrite and Citymd in NYC not have unions? Do the people not see how much better things would be for them? Dont they see how much better it is in the hospital? People need to wake up and get paid what they deserve and get protection from there bosses.

Will pay in 2029 dollars
I made a post earlier. I filed the complaint that night. My old employer was paying all of my overtime as cash under the table. No time and a half no tips. So I was getting 18 an hour in cash. 60 hour weeks for 8/9 months. I left and found out they were giving other employees overtime for real paychecks. I didn’t have any clock in clock out receipts. But I have every schedule sent from the boss’s phone number to a group chat. Two pay stubs that conflict with said schedule. A text conversation with another employee. And an unsigned but hand written note from the employer stating that I was paid in cash. I’m hoping to get back pay. A friend of mine told me that labor and industries will pull all of their pay stubs. I know of two other employees who were paid solely in…
TL;DR at bottom This may not be “anti work” but i have no idea what sub to post it in. I recently got hired as a CNC machinist at a factory in my state for an oil and gas company making the long pipes, and drills you see in the animations for fracking oil/gas wells. we don't have much micromanagement, so long as the lathes keep turning no matter what, management tends to leave us the alone. we can listen to music, podcasts etc on headphones to make the shift go by faster. My shift works 3pm- 1am Monday through Friday. so 50 hours a week required ($15.50 p/h). We also have the option of coming in on Sundays and putting in another shift at our discretion. Sixty hours total if we want it. Maybe it's just because it's the oil and gas industry, but i can't believe we can,…
did I do the right thing
I recently put in my notice of resignation. My workplace has been toxic and unhealthy for awhile. The pay is good, and benefits/pension is amazing. Coworkers are great but management and the direction of the company is messed up. I found a new job where the initial pay will be less but they do pay for my courses and certification so basically I get free education that will set me up for my career if I work hard. I was so confident and happy with mt decision to leave even though I'll need to cut down on spendings for first year or 2. Most of my friend and co-workers understand and support mt decision. Recently spoke with a friend and he didn't think it was a good idea to leave. He thinks I should've pushed harder and asked for change at work instead of leaving a high paying job. Now…
Taking my time
We'd been given a covid response thank-you day off in 2020 in my job which had to be taken by end of March. In January I volunteered to cover a stressful different role the week in which I could have taken the full covid thank-you day off in my main job; the other role is a complex pressured admin job which affects the running of 3 departments which is why no one else wants to learn to do it when the job-holder is on leave or off sick. Afterwards we were so busy in my main job I was only given a half day covid thank-you day at the end of March, which I'd assumed was ok, I could then take the rest of time owed later. This week, managers said they didn't owe me the rest of the hours as it had to be taken in one go, but…
So I saw a post from one of my neighbors and thought it belongs here. Neighbor trying to completely avoid actually paying someone to stain their fence: Attention Neighbors! Have your children been misbehaving and need to be punished? Or are they spending too much time on their cell phones and computers? I have the perfect solution! I just had my fence redone and in a couple weeks it needs to be stained. Staining one panel seems like an adequate afternoon punishment – I imagine most kids can complete it in 1 to 3 hours. I will provide water and snacks. Cost of materials is up and can no longer afford to pay someone to do this, and I am in no shape to to do it myself. This may seem like an odd request – but see – I am nearing 60, and have always in the back of…
