Happy Thanksgiving
Reminder that your employer isn’t happy you get to spend time with your family today, they’re happy they don’t have to give you holiday pay Yet no American would have to ever work if our government would stop giving money to other countries for no reason.
Smoke coming off me from burn out
I grew up poor and have spent most of my life working from the age of 14. Took all the overtime and worked holidays in the hope that hard work would pay off. I have lost friendships, missed out on time with family and sacrificed vacations. I'm nearing my thirties and I am DONE. Currently unemployed and just burning through 5 years of savings. I'm being told that I need to get back into the work force but I am so unmotivated to do so. I'm sick of having my labour stolen to better some rich person when my wage will barely substantiate a comfortable life. Plan is to stay out of work for as long as possible. I'm told I need to avoid using my savings but I don't understand why not. I don't even know what we're doing or where society is heading that supports that notion.
I just need some empathy, perhaps, from a group of people who probably understand all too well how shitty our work environments are. Me (24m) and my partner (23m) have had quite a few financial struggles this year. We had to cut down to one shared car and narrowly avoided being evicted out of our studio apartment. My partner has had some tough medical issues and is in the beginning stages of glacoma. He is already partially deaf, and terrified to lose his vision. His current symptoms cause him a lot of pain and discomfort. And out of all the grief that has occurred, he is preparing to lose his job. Too many call offs, too many doctor appointments to schedule shifts around. Because he is not a human being that will always be physically able to work. His supervisors are getting very annoyed at him. It's already bad enough…

Breach of Confidentiality
At work, I was asked to fill out a form to rate my department's relationship with our client. A direct quote from HR on the form stated ” All responses will be kept confidential. Personal comments will not be shared.” Obviously, since I am posting here, both my name and the comments were shared directly with the client, along with those of my other team members. I could really use some advise in crafting an email response. I am so angry, I am illegible right now.
Hey guys so i'm a 25 year old man, I was working at a grocery store as a grocery clerk for 2/3 weeks. Other than one sick day (because i had the flu) and one day i was late due to public transport (i informed the manager) i hadn't done anything to break the rules or believe cause me to be fired. Everything was going great, i was already planning my days and shifts when my supervisor just sends me a text out of the blue: Hey we just evaulated your performance the last 2 weeks, found it unsatisfactory and this isn't working out. When i asked for a bix more explanation or what happened as it was out of the blue all i see is that he's read the message with no response. I don't know what i did that would warrant me getting fired out of the blue…
The exact wording of my contract is: [Company] will pay you [amount] towards your moving expenses. If you leave within one year, this will become payable back to [Company]. I'm 6ish months in fyi, but on a final write up for attendance. My medication makes it hard to wake up & drive (yes my med & my condition is documented) but employer said they can't accommodate a start time that is 1 hour later. By verbiage alone, is repayment enforceable if I'm fired? To leave feels rather voluntary…
