So I work hybrid, we get two WFH days a week, which is nice. I can honestly say I don’t mind going into the office, where we all get along super well and camaraderie is great. Everybody is pretty cool there. BUT GOOD GOD. I can get through my actual work in maybe 3 hours at home. Do client outreach, respond to emails, enter some data, bam I’m done for the day. Everybody at work has the same gripe, and agree that 32-hour, 4-day week would make us vastly more productive while working and give back our mental peace. But at the office you just SIT there making up things to do when you could easily call it a day. Granted, it’s guest service so I get that we need to be available to the service hours but still. Absolutely no need for us to be doing 40 HOURS of…
Month: April 2023
Mandatory Company Outing
My job is having an “outing” next month. A few coworkers and I aren't interested for many varied reasons and would rather just work than go. However today I was told it's mandatory to go. No debates. Can my job force me to do something that isn't explicitly in my role with the company? I'd rather take an unpaid day than go at this point.

I’ve had a few run ins with my employer so far since I started working. I have since went to the dol and now am waiting….. while waiting he is now going after a friend of mine. Seems he sent him home for being a no call no show for going to a doctors appointment for a permanent disability after telling them prior about it. I don’t know if any of this is proctected by az law
I mean seriously, please don't tell me the value is determined by supply and demand alone. If that is roughly the case, has anyone in history ever suggested we decide to value a currency based on the economics of items required to not die? The response I always hear when questions come up about the government giving bailouts to banks, or government trying to work around malicious corporations during times of inflation, and so much more is something to the effect of “well that's just the way it works.” Last time I heard that was in response to a comment about the lack of reasonable attainability of housing, vehicles, and higher education. I responded with “what if when corporations decide to turn the necessities of life into investment projects, explicitly and openly attempting to make a profit off the desperation of the people, the government just says no,” only to…
I'm really really confused what to do here as I've never actually had this happen to me and I'm only 20. I worked for a car dealership for a short period of time, but because of black mold, I decided to file a OSHA complaint and a week later, quit without notice. I filed my taxes and just completely forgot to add my last employers W2, as I never received instruction on how to obtain my tax documents, or did I receive any documents in the mail. Realizing this, I filed what I had and recognized I'd have to ammend my taxes. I've been calling for a week now trying to contact HR, and the receptionist has now stopped transferring my calls upstairs, but instead hangs up on me. It almost feels like retaliation. I'm not sure what law this breaks in Minnesota or at a federal level, but I…
Some people don't really care for making friends at work and that's fine. And some people do and where management steps and says “you guys are talking too much!” I figured it was because we weren't spending time working. But even if we finish our work and there's nothing to do they still don't want us to be to friendly and chat. I get why now; it's easier to break individuals then it is a group of true friends. A coworker getting bullied makes you think “hope that's not me next time” but if it's a ride or die buddy it will be “This is bullshit. He can't talk to my buddy like that! Fuck thus job”
I've been lurking on this sub for a while and I ended up wondering how do you know if a company care for their employees. I'm in university and I will be looking for job in the future and I want to (if possible) avoid a workplace that doesn't threat their employees with respect since I saw so many people in this sub dealing with these kind of situation. Thank you !
Workers Memorial Day April 28th.

Little morning chuckle for ya guys
I’m done with compromising my values
This is about my perspective and not a judgment on anyone. I'm tired of picking the lesser evil. I spent most of my career in local government. It was frustrating but it did good to the community. After I vested in the pension, I decided I put in my time and it is time to get paid well. So I got a job at a certain world's largest employer. I was really excited, I get to continue to work with local government but make really good money. I figured it is a net good or at least a wash. It was great working with smart passionate people who care about helping government customers. I drank the kool-aid. But the longer I worked there the more I got see how hypocritical the company. Started to see that a lot of the policies aren't really any caring about people but to make…
