Misclassification as overtime exempt
Anyone here with experience negotiating around a misclassification as an OT exempt employee? I’m on salary for a large financial institution and my position regularly requires overtime doing work as an operating technician for AV systems. I don’t manage any other employees and I’m not an IT admin nor do I perform any other duties that fall under the exempt category according to FLSA to the best of my understanding, however I am classified as an exempt employee. Curious about others’ experiences in similar situations if anyone has stories to share. I don’t want to burn bridges unnecessarily but I’m tired of giving away hours of my life for free. I don't even know what I'm looking for our of this post, but I needed to post it. For the past year, I've been working the best paying job I've ever had, with the best boss I've ever had. I used to work for landlords, now I work in an office and estimate construction projects. Great boss, basically lets you take as many paid sick days as you want, doesn't care how you get your work done as long as it's done. I don't feel abused or taken advantage of. I like my co-workers and don't feel like the work I do supports some evil, oppressive company or billionaire. Making $25/hr, which is mostly a living wage for me (I'll never be out from under debt, but whatever). Pay Rate Difference
I’m a travel nurse that recently started a contract with a hospital. I was with HR and the scheduler the other day because there was a discrepancy with scheduling shifts. The scheduler showed me the emails between her and the HR rep of my specific contract. I know it was my specific contract because my name was attached to it. As I was looking through the emails as the scheduler asked me to look through because she then took a phone call, I saw the pay rate per hour the hospital is paying the agency for me to work there. Fair severance payout?
I’m resigning from my role and asking for a severance in exchange for not starting a legal claim. My manager had been sabotaging my work performance and I documented it. I confronted her after 2 months of documented behavior and the same day she put me on a PIP. I’ve only been in my role for 2 months. What would be a fair severance ask? TC 95K
Not sure if this fits in this sub, but i work from home for a call center. I can see other agents in the “available” mode but it lets them be in there for like an hour at a time whereas I get a call every few minutes. Is there something that they are doing that I can try so I can relax a bit? Or is it just a system error?
When I say sudden, I mean getting a notification of schedule change two days before the next work week starts after already having the schedule for a week and a half… Reason? Three weeks ago I started a daycare job as an assistant pre todds teacher and we have the first week without our main teacher since she quit. I’m working with two other teachers and one of the teachers I work with is bothering me lately. It seems everywhere I look nowadays it's people talking about the economy sucks, people are tired of working for chump change and overall calling for a better work life for the people. But i'm afraid it might be a placebo effect. I want things to change. I'm angsty about it. I WANT to have a child but the one thing that isn't ticked off on my list yet is being able to be financially stable with room to do activities and things I want. It is the only thing holding me back from having a child but I can't and I won't bring one into this world just for them to barely scrape on by.
