So basically I had an interview yesterday for a job at a gas station. On the application on indeed it said the starting base was 18.69. So that 18.69 should be base pay, the starting point. I got called back yesterday and the manger who I had the interview said I start Friday, but I realized in that moment I never asked the pay rate. So I asked and he said it’s fucking 16.50$ an hour. The only reason I applied is because it was a bit over 18$ an hour. He said he’s gonna “fight for me” to get me my 18$ an hour. But that seems super sketch and kinda illegal. Like isn’t that false advertising?? Idk. Im newly 21 and have a hard time standing up for myself at work. But I can’t afford to make a whole 2$ less. I start Friday any advice?
To add: I think I should talk to his boss, the lady who got me the interview with him in the first place. Cause I think on the phone she said 18$ as well, so idk. Any advice is helpful thanks.
