Husband and I relocated for his job, and he’s now feeling like he’s being pushed out

In early January, my husband found out his company would be closing the local office and he would either be laid off, or could transfer to another office, which would result in us moving to another state. Feeling like that was our best option, we took the leap and moved. Mind you, the only assistance they provided was $5000 to break our lease. We spent nearly $10k of our own money for this move. Here we are 3 months in, and it’s been absolute hell for my husband. He was in a management position at the previous office and now, he’s working under the woman who runs the office in this location. It’s clear she immediately felt threatened by him, and is afraid of him outshining her, so she’s been deliberately doing things to make him look bad.

For one, she purposely leaves him out of important meetings. She refuses to delegate things he should be taking over from her to help the office run smoother. In fact, the last few weeks she barely acknowledges his presence. Doesn’t talk to him at all but constantly watches over his shoulder.

Meanwhile, her staff is compromised of all friends of hers, or people she’s somehow related to. So with that, she plays favoritism. My husband got scrutinized by her for leaving work early for a doctor’s appointment the other week (he had given notice), yet her staff comes and goes as they please. Mind you, being in management in his old office, he never had to gain acceptance to go to said doctors appointments.

Two weeks ago, she came into the office sick and with a fever. Ended up being out of office the entire following week , leaving my husband to run the office himself (he did great but it was extremely stressful). Of course, the entire staff got sick, including my husband. So last Friday she sent him home, and then come to find out she went and charged him a full day of PTO for it.

He constantly hears her and her staff talking behind his back, they’re on a group text together and he hears notifications back and forth like they are obviously gossiping.

It’s just such a bad situation. My husband comes home miserable every day. It’s clear she’s trying to push him out, but he makes good money, and more money than I do so he can’t quit until he finds something new. Meanwhile we moved to a new state for this job, where we have no friends and family and it just seems like such a huge mistake and overall disappointment.

Any recommendations on how to handle this situation? Is this woman doing anything illegal?
Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. We are feeling a little lost right now and I hate seeing him going through this. Just hoping he finds something else soon.
