I love what I do and the people I work with. Pay is exceptional and coworkers are a great team. My skills are utilized well and I feel accomplished when a goal is met. But I feel my employer is making decisions for the business that make me uncomfortable ethically. Nothing illegal or harmful to people, but the choices made are impacting the level of quality and service drastically. It’s not the same business I joined a few years ago. Each time I voice my concerns I get thrown more money and they hire more people to divide my work. I can’t get them to understand that my feelings don’t stem from stress or being overworked/under appreciated. My heart is hurting. It is not possible for me to find similar work elsewhere, I will have to make some major changes and change industries to find other work, likely for less…
Terrible recruiters.
So a month ago, I get a call from a recruiter about a software development job. He seemed impressed with my application and said that he would reach out to me in no later than two days. Well two days go by, nothing. I call a couple times, no answer. I email, no answer. A week or two goes by and I text him because his number was listed on his email signature asking about why he hasn’t been in contact with me. He replies back apologizing saying he’s been out due to a personal emergency and will get back with me when he is in office that following week. I tell him okay no worries hope all is well. Another week passes, and nothing, no replies to my emails nor messages. In the meantime a recruiter from the same company messages me on LinkedIn asking me to set up…
I am Being paid below minimum wage
Hi everyone I live and work in Illinois. The minimum wage is currently 12/hour and I am being paid less than that. I am a part time worker at a fast casual place like Chipotle (not chipotle), but I am being paid less than $12/hour and that includes tips. For context I am not a minor and I am legally working for this employer. I want advice on how I should address this topic to my boss before I file a complaint to the Illinois government.
Hedge Fund internship
Got offered to do assessment for an internship. The internship would last for a year before considering me for a full time position even though I have a masters degree in finance. The fund offered a salary of $639 dollars a month which isn’t enough to cover rent and food in this city. The assessment to get the job was like a week of super tedious excel work with little guidance, and high uncertainty if I would even be offered the job after doing that first week of free work. I said after some consideration, I want to ask if they could accept $1550 a month given the internship would last a year and I got ghosted. I guess I dodged a bullet…
Title was my boss to me after I didn't complete a task in what he thinks is a reasonable time. the kicker? it was my technique, because I had to figure it out on my own as he didn't even as much as look at how I was doing it.
co-workers get paid more but do far less actual work? honestly i think i might just say no sorry i’m busy next time and not care at all.
This may be the wrong sub so if there's a better place, let me know? I picked up a seasonal job the start of this month. I don't need it, it was to fund some fun stuff I wanted to do outside of my budget. By the end of this week, I'll have worked 20 days in a row between my 3x a week normal job and my “part time” seasonal job. And after ONE day off, I'm scheduled 13 days in a row again. When I accepted the job, she told me it would be “a 4 hour shift here, a 5 hour shift there” with the option to work at her other location in town if I wanted more hours. When PT hired me, I thought I was very clear that I already work full time (3x12hr) and this was a “fun money” gig. Which is why I…
Hitler’s American Business Partners
Calling over and over
I've applied to jobs, some with recruiters. This week, I have received calls from these recruiters. But they don't just call once, they call several times… like 5 times within minutes. Instead of leaving a voice-mail, they then email me saying it's urgent to get back to them and need to fill position asap. Anyone else have this experience? Coz I'm feeling this is straight up harassment and turns me off completely from returning any phone call or email.
Favorite Part of Being in the Office
Most of my job is behind a computer but due to the nature of my industry, sometimes I need to actually be present for physical tasks. For the most part I don't mind. I go in twice a week, get a lot of manual work done, get some good chats in with colleagues, catch up with my manager, play with the dogs etc. But the BEST part is…. The amount of fkn pee on all the toilets. It forces me to do this little squat pee thing and then wipe the toilet so the next person doesn't think it was me. I just don't get that at home. In all seriousness, man oh man people are GROSS. I heard someone clipping their fingernails at their desk and then… SWEPT THEM ON TO THE CARPET. Like who does that? Doesn't we all know this is not something to do outside of…
