Not in the U.S., non-English speaker. I'm a trained RN and I was laid off last November from the hospital I worked because they didn't want to give me a raise. It was much cheaper for them to hire a new grad in my position. Also, there is a big wage gap between people hired before 2018 and after 2018. This had led to nurses hired after 2018 leaving in droves. Today I learned from some friends still there that the company that controls the hospital has declined any raise request from nurses. But because they don't want to loose more nurses, they implemented a different tactic. They left in every nurses' station cards of a diagnostic chain and have the ward managers tell nurses that if they want a second job to make some extra cash, the diagnostic chain is looking for staff. Two catches: 1) the pay is…
Month: July 2023
I have a trip across the country coming up that I booked weeks ago and I don’t get reimbursed until after the travel is done. Now they’re expecting me to plan a second business trip but I can’t be out over $2,000 with no reimbursement that is a significant amount of money no matter who you are. They claim to have a “company card” yet it doesn’t exist, nobody has ever seen it and whenever anyone asks for it they tell you to ask all these other people. If you pester them long enough someone at the company might pay for your travel and then get reimbursed on your behalf but the system is so stupid.
People are FXCKEd
People are seriously fucked man…. I was laid off just recently and in my lay off process the manager informed me I can use them as a reference. Well, I Just went through a whole interview process for a job that went extremely well! Unfortunately, they decided to change their mind…. Why?? Well, after doing some digging I found out one of my references talked poorly about me……and guess who it was? My old manager…… wtf is wrong with people? Why would you tell me to use you as a reference when are going to take the chance to talk poorly about me? Note. Thought I had a great relationship with my precious manager. No write ups, no complaints, just good job sir….
Coworker died in the place he worked
I work in healthcare and the coworker who I work with/directly next to just passed away from a heart attack following a heart valve replacement surgery. He was in his 60s, never got to retire, and died in the hospital where he worked at for over 30 years. What a shitty way to go. He never got to travel the world and stayed in the same area his entire life. Idk why I’m posting this here, but it just scares me to know that could be me one day. Working the same shitty job, for the same shitty pay, all for what? Just to die and never actually experience life. Fuck that bullshit. I want to live life not constrained by a corporate entity that doesn’t care if I die because I’m replaceable. I want comfortable wages and more time off. I want TIME. I want time to live my…
For starters, I always get the food to the customer. I don't care to eat your food. I don't care where you oder from, what you want, etc. I pick up literally everything(had to pick up a Vibrator from cvs and tropical smoothie for someone once). I don't judge. I always follow the instructions of leave it at my door or hand it too me. My ratings were 99% completion rate(had one order I couldn't complete because I was shot at). Have a 4.94 star rating. And an 84% acceptance rate(I don't take orders unless the mile to pay ratio is the same or the pay ratio exceeds the mile ratio) Anyway on to the issue at hand. Last week I made a delivery. I Doordarsh in memphis, TN. This delivery was at the FedEx house(known as the Ronald mcdonald house) for kids and their families with cancer. For starters…
A lill context: i work in marketing. Everywhere ive worked (generally in agencies) I had older/ancient colleagues giving me orders and telling me what to do, even tho it's not their expertise! And I never had the chance to say anything because these people have always a bigger place in the company and their opinion a bigger weight, despite me being the litteral fucking expert! The boss also prefers to listen to them. This is how it goes: I generally apply what they ask, KNOWING it's a bad decision, the result end up bad and shows that I was right all along. This happen all the fucking time.
suspension from work during my two weeks
Says most in the title, but I turned in my two weeks notice at my job. I asked HR not to tell anyone until closer to the date. I assumed they would tell my boss, but they did not. I was written up by a disgruntled customer claiming I did ridiculous things, but what “I did” is illegal, so they're taking it seriously. I was suspended. It's been a week. If they try to reinstate me today, I will have 3 shifts left. …. so when they call, do I just explain that I've been off for a week because of their silliness and now have 3 shift left so I'm out? That's what I truly want to do. I don't feel like being a good little worker, but I also would love to smile at everyone and dammit I had plans to say goodbye to my solid coworkers. They…
So basically I had an interview yesterday for a job at a gas station. On the application on indeed it said the starting base was 18.69. So that 18.69 should be base pay, the starting point. I got called back yesterday and the manger who I had the interview said I start Friday, but I realized in that moment I never asked the pay rate. So I asked and he said it’s fucking 16.50$ an hour. The only reason I applied is because it was a bit over 18$ an hour. He said he’s gonna “fight for me” to get me my 18$ an hour. But that seems super sketch and kinda illegal. Like isn’t that false advertising?? Idk. Im newly 21 and have a hard time standing up for myself at work. But I can’t afford to make a whole 2$ less. I start Friday any advice? To add:…
As the title states, my company recently put a camera that also records audio on top of the cubicles that my department works in. There is no doubt that they are recording our movements and audio as we work. It is literally about three feet from my face as I type this. They put this camera up over the weekend with no explanation, and still have not addressed it. We already know that they monitor whether or not our computers are online, but now also this. My department recently moved upstairs to a new part of our building. We needed more space to do our required work. We had to build our cubicles ourselves. The move went smoothly and everything has been great for the last month and a half or so our productivity even skyroicketed , but now we are being watched. No other workspace is fitted with cameras,…
The title says it all. My job, grocery store employee (unionized), has given me a suspiciously generous raise that I only discovered this morning when viewing my check stub. Knowing my company I’m sure it’s an error, but I definitely don’t want to lose it. How should I proceed? I was thinking about addressing my HR rep and getting the Union involved if they decide to revert my pay, but any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Relevant info: I printed in triplicate relevant information for my employee portal regarding the pay. I am reviewing my Union contract for any loopholes or similar to allow me to keep my raise Finally, probably gonna call my Union to explain the situation. If y’all have any advice, suggestions, etc. let me know.
