I’m applying for a job and it’s been several years since I have done regular work. I’ve been doing gig work like rideshare. I only have a couple of “real” jobs on my resume but one of them was a family business and the other I fudged the dates to make it look like I stayed longer than I did. Please, will somebody be my reference? I really need this job, I need the money and the stability. It’s been so many years since I’ve done this (job searched) and it’s so different than it was! I’m doing the background check paperwork but I don’t know how to complete it without this.

advice to respond to my manager?
I'm a college student, so i take summer weekend courses for credits. I should mention I'm new at the establishment I currently work at, but i did tell my boss I will be taking weekend classes. I am scheduled for work on Saturdays and was hoping to pick up a class during my shift. I was under the impression the only week I'd be working Saturdays was my first week, as thats what my boss insinuated. However i noticed on the schedule I was scheduled for Saturdays permanently. I was hoping to switch my day off (Monday) with my Saturday so i could do classes. I brought this up with my boss and she said; “I’m not at work today but I’ll take a look on Friday. Though I have to mention Mondays are our short days for sure and I was hoping you’d be able to come in as…
Since my work assignment ended I looked at the other opportunities in the market. I was basically doing remote or 95% remote work or the last two years. It appears that people do not get it. If they want to see me in the office they have to pay me extra. The nerves the interview people or the people writing the job assignments /properties have… My current job that ends this month that I had for 15 months now I took a pay cut of 15% since it was 95% remote over the other quite similar job where I would have had to show up for 3 days a week… . So currently if I would work another assignment I would simply look for the best remote job offer and would demand 20% more money if they want to see me in office for 3 days a week… . What…
No notice or two weeks?
So I’m in a predicament at work. I (18F) started almost two years ago at 16. My mom held the position I have now. 11 months ago I started gaining the responsibilities I have now. They have continued to put more and more on me without a pay raise. They agreed to the fact that I would be in school full time until just last week. But some shady things have been happening. One distinct issue is they were refusing to give me holiday pay and correct vacation hours because I was part time for awhile. My branch manager disagreed and has to fight them on this. He has since taken a step back as branch manager. Tuesday 1/24/23 After having some health issues requiring me to work from home for a week (which was approved) I get pulled into a meeting out of the blue. They say that I…
No lunch break
Idk if this is the right group to ask but anyways I’m asking on behalf of my fiancé. He works for a big company where he works one week at home and one in the office. He gets a 1 hour lunch break every day. However if someone doesn’t go to work then it gets cut down to 30 minutes which is still fine. But today 2 people didn’t go to work so he’s getting no lunch break, only a 15 minute break throughout the day. Is this even legal? Seems messed up to me that they punish the rest of the employees for the other ones who didn’t show up.
OMFG. Idea worth Sharing? I think not.
Need to gtfo my current job where no one listens. I’m paid peanuts. And over worked. Begin applying to jobs for devops, infrastructure engineer, Linux engineer. Denied from many INSTANTLY. Only to see the damn ad recirculating a week later. Places are not hiring. It’s a lie. They want to pay peanuts and exploit people or look for a candidate that just doesn’t exist. They can put apps out and leave them hanging to screw over the American worker and hire foreign or get loan forgiveness . There’s no laws or unions to stop this either. Lied to so far about work from home
I’m currently someone who live with severe anxiety and got an awesome job working from home 50% of the time and the other 50% is going out and helping people with mental health issues. They said this during the interview. So far I’ve had to drive 2 hours both ways to 3 separate training locations in my first week. Not one of my coworkers has said they work remote. And my manager who hired me quit before I started, and my new temp manager is on vacation until next week. I’m having severe anxiety over this. I can’t quit because I live paycheck to paycheck already, and need this income and I quit my last job for this one. Any advice would be nice, was thinking about reaching out to HR
I've been looking for work for a few months now and finally got hired. After going through the background checks and drug screens, I was given my starting date from HR. Unfortunately, I got extremely ill from food poisoning and had to leave my first day early. I get the number to my supervisor, but he only speaks Spanish so I have to resort to texts in order to communicate. Before I leave, I asked for the contact information of my supervisor so I can communicate with him how I'm feeling and what I need to do before I return to work. The next morning I'm still feeling ill, so I try calling but get instantly forwarded to a full voicemail. I try texting with a Spanish translator, I get no response. A few days of trying to get in contact goes by before I decide to email HR and…
