My supervisor gave me a pair of pants out their closet. I accepted the pants. I’m not sure how to feel. Why wouldn’t they just donate the pants at goodwill like a regular person; why donate the pants to me? Is this some weird power move?

Employees sure as hell aren't seeing that compensation from increased prices.
Any advice on trying to get a raise?
Background: I'm working an avg. of 40 hours a pay period (2 weeks), so about 20 or so hours a week. I am the primary closer at my job, which is at a locally owned and operated bakery/bar/cafe. It wears a lot of hats, I know. Currently there's a a Front of House staff of, including me, about 6-7 people. As I said, I'm the primary closer, closing roughly 4-5 nights out of the 6 days they're open. I'm being paid under the state minimum wage (CO is $13.56) and make a tipped wage. I recently updated my availability so I'd have at least two weekdays where I wasn't closing and my boss told me that there wasn't any staff available for that request so he'd have to bring someone new on. Now if he doesn't honor that request and schedules me and continues to schedule me, besides quitting, would…
Wage theft by employers is the biggest form of theft compared to other forms of robbery, shoplifting, etc. Speaking from personal experience, companies that micromanages time such as timing bathroom breaks, having the “if you got time to lean you got time to clean” mentality, or betraying you doing non work related things like talking to a coworker during down time are also committing some form of wage theft. Wage theft can be in the form of making you come 15 minutes early to “prepare” but not letting you clock in, stealing tips for those who get tips, and time card editing where employers edit your time card where it seems like you took a break but you actually didn’t. Don’t let these penny pinchers take away your hard earned money and make sure to keep track of timesheet and paychecks. Also always do what is stated in your job description.…
one of my friends was laid off from an apprenticeship program after the company lost its contract in our city. they offered him a traveling position but he wasn't interested. now it's been like 4 months and he can't find another job but the company his previous employer had a contract with just posted positions remarkably similar to what he had been doing with them and he'd love to apply but he thinks he might have signed a noncompete during onboarding….is there any way to check if he did and what the conditions are? he's really been struggling since losing the job and there's not many decent opportunities in our area (unless you want to make $8.50/hr at long john silvers). he liked the work he was doing and was good st it but wasn't interested in picking up his life and moving every few months until his apprenticeship was…
I am autistic, 37M. I do work full time, I have my tasks I do (expertly I might ad) everyday but I can do everything in the morning, the time it takes me is about close to an hour or an hour and a half, then I have the entire day, until 2pm, where I do it all over again, about an hour or an hour and a half. On a good day I have like 6 hours to kill everyday, on a bad day, when I am working full on, I have about 4 hours to kill. If it wasn't for my podcasts/tv shows/audiobooks/social media doomscrolling etc, I have stuff to kill time, but it doesn't last forever, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I am a just under a year at a rapidly expanding corporate out of the north east (I am in the midatlantic). I was hired on with a lot of promises (quality of life-Promised that we would be out on time mostly, noted would be aided by a scribe, and a dedicated tech. Clearly the expansion is not panning out because there is a hiring freeze and they are taking away how much staff is the floor. We were promised clean hospitals and cleaning crews (straighy out the window). Everytime anyone brings this up, the reponse seems that to be, “they know” and are working on it. But every new change seems to be taking away things. The dreaded numbers game is being used. We have to prove we need blocks and a nurse. It feels like a bait and switch. Any meaningful change is pushed out without…
Coworker deleted my work
Today my coworker deleted my work from a Database because it might affect their work. This coworker mentioned they were going to send an email out this morning to let our customer know the work would take a little longer because she wanted to do it her way. I had already started working on it and thought I could finish it in time using data my coworker had already done. For this to work I had to work from inside my coworkers database. When my coworker saw that I was in her database she sent me an IM saying to stay out of there and deleted all my work. After deleting my work she proceeded to delete or remove access to more of the database to the point where I couldn’t find anything. I told her to let our customer know the work would be late like we discussed but…
